I was recently considering new duel cab utes and was going to go with the Mazda BT-50 GT in a diesel (I've owned nothing but Holden's for the past 27 years). I thought it represented best value after looking at the Colorado (not enough bling), the Ranger (wife hated the seat trim material), the Triton (getting a bit dated) and Toyota (towing capacity is well behind the norm for this category). The Toyota will however have the best resale and is the most popular. My neighbor just purchased a new Hilux SR5 diesel 6 weeks ago and already has buyers lining up for when he upgrades in 4 years. If you're going to tow cars around on a car trailer you'll need to be mindful of weight with the Toyota. I've decided to go with something that has a minimum 3,000kg towing capacity just to be sure.
