General Questions on GTS and SS stuff

All interesting info thankyou everyone. Here some more questions yes i know i ask a lot, lol. Was there a badged GTS ute ? I looked at the ute today and it had the green paint on the guards and the front clip, under the flutes on the guard it has three holes ( obvisouly a badge of some sort ) and two holes at the front of the guard just below the line. Only reason i am asking was going to wreck this ute, but if its worth keeping will do it up, Not that i need another project. lol. At a guess i would say it came out with the GTS dash, As i have an HX 1 tonner that was just a standard 202 4 speed that came out with the GTS dash.

    Cheers Steve.

No GTS ute. That is what the Sandman was for. Guards will be GTS guards off a GTS.

U21 dash was optional on all HQ, called U17 on HJ-WB. This is what often gets called GTS dash.

As Byron says... the guards would of come off a GTS4 Sedan. Notice the GTS badge under the vents as well as the Monaro one at the front.

The earlier GTS coupe sedans didnt have the Monaro badge on the front section.

HQ Sandman GTS Guards would of only had the Belmont/Kingswood badge holes on the front section and none under the vents.

Thanks again everyone much appreciated, so from what i can gather from the info here and my assumption, is the front end including the twin headlight statesman front , have come from a donour vechile the same colour (barbados ) and made to look like a sandman.

Probably. Would have happened to most utes and vans through the 70's and 80's.

Statesman front wouldn't have been Barbados Green, very unlikely anyway. Maybe the nose was a new panel?

Steve a HQ sandman would of only had a single head light front end like the blue HQ .The van on the right with the statesman front would be after market .From factor double head light gts ,statesman,or premier front were only fitted to HZ sandman

haha I cant imagine the cardigan wearing toffs who ordered stretch Belmont's would of liked clashing with the bright green.

Most likely the front end has just been painted. It's sometimes hard to tell original paint on the old ones. I've got a HZ Premier wagon in a faded, washed out yellow colour. It's all the same in the door jambs and everywhere. Could have sworn most of the paint was original but I was getting the tag details off it the other day and it had a paint code for Mirage Blue.
