haha I cant imagine the cardigan wearing toffs who ordered stretch Belmont's would of liked clashing with the bright green.

Most likely the front end has just been painted. It's sometimes hard to tell original paint on the old ones. I've got a HZ Premier wagon in a faded, washed out yellow colour. It's all the same in the door jambs and everywhere. Could have sworn most of the paint was original but I was getting the tag details off it the other day and it had a paint code for Mirage Blue.

Lots of Ambulance packs made, it was available on both vans and tonner. In HX I think it was you could get it on both Holden and Kingswood van. Plus it was possible to option XU4 on top of B06.

    On HZ BO6 was just:
Premier nose & bumper bar (and guards bonnet & cowl on tonner)
    Premier door trims and armrest.
    55Amp alternator.
    Complete front floor mat.
Ute rear bumbers supplied with tonner for fitment to body.
    Chrome hubcaps.

Having said that, i've never seen a B06 that wasn't a V8, i've never seen one with a standard dash and only ever seen 1 x bench seat car. However there were probably heaps of 6cyl ones made with standard dashes and bench. Most that survive today seem to be V8 auto with buckets and GTS dash, although I have seen a few 4spd examples. Add this to a HZ Kingswood van and confusion reigns regarding Sandman identification. I have heard stories that during HX and HZ Sandmans were very hard to get, so dealers were selling people Ambulance packs with Sandman stripes, many would have been 308 TH400 examples.

Talking about GTS dashes, i remember people saying that the GTR or XU-1 ( cant remember now ) were the first Toranas to come out with GTS dashes.

Well I cant remember a HB having one. They were more like little 4-cyl buzz boxes. The early LC 4 cyls with the different front were more like them as a cheap commuter.

oops wrong... there was one with a gts dash.

"A 'sports' model was also released at the same time called the 'Brabham' Torana"

"The Brabham Torana was still available, in two-door form only. It now included a sports steering wheel similar to the contemporary Holden Monaro GTS, full instrumentation, different badging, and different black accenting."

Spot on mate, they had two versions 68 and 69 one having different paint outs then the other, they had full instrumentation, sports steering wheel, bucket seats, 98 bhp twin carb, extractors, 4cyl coupled to a 4 speed box, disc brake front end. And jack brabham badges vitually everywhere. Will take some photos soon and post. Yes i do have one all original

I understand what you are trying to say but a "GTS" dash was never fitted to any Torana. Hence their own designation of GTR/GTR XU-1.

You'd be closer to say "Sport Dash" or "full instrumentation".

I was filling-up at a servo a few months ago when a well presented LJ rumbled into the servo - resplendant in its XU-1 kit. I (obviously ) just had to walk closely past the machine to get into the shop to pay for my fuel and noticed it was a hideously bright red interior with a painted dash facia and bright red retrimmed seats, carpet, repainted "GTS" steering wheel etc etc. Thought to myself that it was a bit on the loud side, even for Lidcombe. On my way out the shop got talking to the young owner of the LJ (who wouldn't have been born for at least another 10 years after they finished making the LJ shape) who, during the converstaion about the car went to pains to tell me that his car was "all original options GTS and GTR" and had come out of the factory like it was there and then. I now wish I had taken a photo of the interior, the painted red GTS wheel was kind of OK, except if they were going to do it it probably would have looked better if they'd have gotten hold of a corvette wheel with the centre that actually looked alright painted, rather than the "GTS" badge staring at me from the centre of the wheel that was in front of the standard LJ dash with idiot lights etc.

It was seriously difficult not to laugh....

    Regards,

    Dave.

Was the Brabham available before 1/68? The sports dash was available as an option from the start of HK.
