    Correct Smooth, i was refering to the Pre Sandman vans being Kingswoods.
    Also it's good to stir up Byron!!!

    No-one actually mentioned Sandmans wrt Kingswood. There was no such thing as a Kingswood van prior to Sandmans coming into existence. The first Kingswood van was in the HX series. All vans were Belmonts prior to Sandman. Just correcting incorrect teminology! Plus giving Agro a hard time as he does know better!

    I always try to get the terminology correct for the young blokes, otherwise it all gets messed up! Calling HK-HG vans Kingswoods is as incorrect as calling them Premiers. If it doesn't get corrected you get incorrect terminology accepted as fact. It is out there everywhere, but if I can do my bit with GMH product then hopefully it will stay right. It is out there, here are a few blatant examples:

    LX-UC Sunbirds being called Toranas.
    HK-HZ all being called Kingswoods.
    VB-VE being all called Commodores.

    Although the normal effect is that the young blokes get confused and scared and run off to hide in the back of their "Kingswoods".

    My VY is NOT a Commodore!

    ..and yes pre HX all Vans were Belmonts. Where as Utes could be Belmonts or Kingswoods.

    Still, I knew what Agro was saying. Also agree with Byron about keeping it right for reference.

    Agro, only some VE's are Commodores. Examples: Utes are not, they are Holdens. Calais aren't Commodores either.

    So HJ was just a Holden Commercial?

    These modern mid '70's cars are not my specialty. I seem to remember the tailgates got a HOLDEN badge in the centre.

    My wifes VE Sportwagon has a Belmont badge on it! It is a Commodore but nowhere can you find a Sportswagon badge even though Holden called them that.
    Just when was it Holden stated calling Wagons "Station Wagons" and why?

    80135 HK = 6cyl Belmont Station Sedan January 1968 - May 1969
    80335 HK = 6cyl Kingswood Station Sedan January 1968 - May 1969
    80135 HT = 6cyl Belmont Station Wagon May 1969 -July 1970
    80335 HT = 6cyl Kingswood Station Wagon May 1969 -July 1970

    80170_HQ = Belmont Panel Van 6 cyl July 1971 - October 1972
    80270_HQ = Belmont Panel Van 8 cyl July 1971 - October 1972
    8M70__HQ = Holden Panel Van 6 & 8 cyl October 1972 - October 1974
    8WM70 HJ = Holden Panel Van 6 & 8 cyl July 1976

    This is according to official Holden literature I have.

    Based on what I have just read Oct 1972 to Oct 1974 HQ Panel Vans were not Belmonts?
    I must say the literature seems to contradict itself.
