    From memory twin was only available on sedans. All the rest only came with singles.

    I'm not sure how you guys put up with a Holden V8 with twin pipes without a balance pipe. They cackle and drone something horrid. They sound heaps better with a balance pipe at the right spot or better still a single 2.3 or 3" with the right muffler.

    I agree with you on the balance pipe. I reckon a two in two out muffler that acts as a balance sounds good. The complete twin system with no balance sounds like a boat motor i reckon. They are good for working out which bank the burnt out valve is on though!
    Each to their own though. The main thing is all v8's sound good but Holden V8's sound the best by far. Got a nice revy note.

    From what I can tell in the sevice manuals/parts books for HQ's you could get dual system on sedans (Option N10) but can't see any reference for utes/vans - but my books are pre 1974 so pre Sandman.

    I know it's an old thread!!!

    Rang an exhaust guy today to inquire about the cost of a standard exhaust for a HZ 308.
    He told me that they ran 1 7/8" twin pipes into a 1 5/8" single, through a 1 5/8" muffler and then out through a 1 5/8" tailpipe.
    When i asked him about how small the system was, his reply was that they used smaller pipes for more torque back in the day.

    My question is:
    If it ran a so small system, wouldn't it restrict the flow of the exhaust?
    Also i thought that a that it would have been twin a single 1 5/8" THEN into a 1 7/8" collector?
    BO6 = Rarer then a Sandman

    the theory would have been around back pressure of the smaller exhaust.

    Go big man!
