    G'day

My 3 Holden have twin system, the 2 twin system I got put on (Maloo and the HZ ute) and the other came with a twin system, but it quieter (HX van). I grew up with twin system on V8, i think it great music to the ear.

I have the same set up as jbsandman76, in regards twin (unsure what pipe size i got put on, I thought 2-1/4?????).
I also have sport mufflers on, which make it sound sweet.
Hx van, I'm going to have it change, the mufflers, she abit quieter and I like the long chrome tips look.

I know this is an old thread and slightly off topic, but was the standard HJ/HZ exhaust a single or twin?
If so what sizes where they??

You could order them with factory dual exhaust which was 2"...I think from memory. Most of the vans i saw back when I worked in spares at a GMH dealer came with a single exhaust though and dual were fitted aftermarket.

I think I am repeating but our original red van was single, and still was when we bought it, we have changed it to dual though.... and the GMH guys told us what GTS said as well

The twin system must have been an expensive option in the day.

From memory twin was only available on sedans. All the rest only came with singles.

I'm not sure how you guys put up with a Holden V8 with twin pipes without a balance pipe. They cackle and drone something horrid. They sound heaps better with a balance pipe at the right spot or better still a single 2.3 or 3" with the right muffler.

I agree with you on the balance pipe. I reckon a two in two out muffler that acts as a balance sounds good. The complete twin system with no balance sounds like a boat motor i reckon. They are good for working out which bank the burnt out valve is on though!
Each to their own though. The main thing is all v8's sound good but Holden V8's sound the best by far. Got a nice revy note.
