Hey thanks for all the info and help but I have been searching all day and Im not convinced that this is or is not a sandman and I wont be able to sleep tonight until I know! Please have a look at what I have found and then Ill be done and dusted...
I have taken some photos of my ute I value all opinions
568-17779 Mint Julep was a standard solid sandman colour see colour chart picture
tyre placard no 9942827 see pic 27 and same colour and placard as this link worth a read
http://www.fastlane.com.au/forums/to...c_id=15447#top
Link post states that:
9942827 is only for the 2200kg HX sandman and the non HJ 8 Cyl Panel Van, Ute.
your colour is Mint Julep and would have had the Plum/ Purple/ Dark Blue stripes
GVW is 2200kg as per above link
HX sandmans can come with the
19V trim as per this link
http://www.monaroparts.com/sandman.htm
Note that I have found a 4/76 HX Sandman ute (chassis number AHX00014A) that was built prior to the end of HJ production. It had 19V trim which is not normal for a HX Sandman. The reason is it was built during the HJ model run where HJ base models had 19V trim, whether they were a Sandman or not.
The V8 XU3 Variants had a GVM of 2200kg
Could this be a very rare XU3? Or a sandman ordered with this 19V interior? Were the interiors able to be ordered?
Motor is the L32 which was the high performance 253 not a L31 run of the mill commercial banger found in commercial holdens
It also had the M20 4 speed not M21 as stated earlier?
Something to do with the rear window? See pics
It has forced vents? see dash pics 23 and 24 (No good in winter or once youve washed the car!!)
Mirrors look like they were black before respray? pic 25 (If they are the right ones!)
Has the armrests pic 26
Has door switches with factory wiring
Has carpet front buckets and a cigarette lighter
By all means I am not a historic detailed car man but I did put in the INJ 304 T700 BW DISC brake diff with VT master cyclinder the old banga goes and stops now!
All information is greatly appreciated!!!
