Sorry but I'm going to break it too. I have lost interest over the years, there seems to be no loyalty, most drivers change teams or vehicle makes every second year, simply for a few more dollars. And if Cry Baby Mummy's Boy who couldn't hack racing bikes any more joins triple $$$ then that will probably be the nail in the coffin for me.

Well i have to respond to these negative comments for one drivers and team managers have been changing teams since the 70s if you remember dick johnson once raced a torana then fords and brocky even raced a ford at one stage so nothing has changed except the cars are way faster and v8 supercars has gotten bigger FACT so if you dont like it dont watch it simple
as for casey stoner joining when you win 2 gp championships you can talk bud

That Nissan engine will kill once they get it reliable. I'm all for introducing new manufacturers, although it is really only the engines that are different, rest is mainly control stuff.

The thing I have hated about V8 supercars for years is pit stops. Mandatory this, pit window that. I'd ban pit stops during safety cars and make all scheduled pit stops a specified minimum time so cars win on their merits, not on who has the best (or luckiest) pit stops. Problem is though you'd have to allow for certain stops eg to change a blown tyre or tape up a front air dam etc - all too hard to control I suppose. And someone would figure out a way around it.

Mate, I'm sorry if my negative comments have offended anyone, we are all entitled to our own views, mine is that a mega-budget contest using vehicles with absolutely no credible link to showroom stock, and as Byron has mentioned, contrived results stemming from over-regulation and pure luck in strategy, has lost its entertainment value for me.

Sure, Dick did race Holdens at the beginning of his career, but after changing to Ford in the mid-70's he never switched again, even though it would have been the easier option with the advent of Group A in the mid 80's... And Brocky only raced Fords and Beemers, for a short period after his split with Holden over the Energy Polariser debacle etc. These days they seem to jump camps and then back again every few years.

As for Casey, I was a huge fan, he was the sole Aussie flying the flag in the top level of 2-wheel competition. To throw that away and then fade into a domestic category where he may not even achieve a tenth of what he has in GP, seems such a shame. However his comments re lack of loyalty etc in the Moto GP paddock, make me wonder, does he really expect V8 supercar to be any better???

I do still watch occasionally, and on a positive note, the introduction of Nissan and MB will inject some interest at least for a while. Hoping Stone Bros and the AMG connection may be a big force in the coming years.

The end of caring happened with the introduction of the pace car.
It's a race, first across the finish line wins. If you have to avoid carnage, so be it!

For me, if you can't buy one on Monday from the dealers we might as well support F1 or worse Ariel ping-pong.
Go on give me a point, you could see what I was aiming at!

    Regards, Smooth

No worries mate, I've actually been to a few v8 supercars meetings (admittedly years ago) and am trying to organise a trip to Darwin around mid next year, if it lines up with the Sky City 400 (or whatever it's called now) I'll most likely be there, to watch support categories, soak up atmosphere and catch up with some mates as well. Can't disagree with you regarding the speeds etc that they are achieving these days, cheers Pat
