Yeah Ive been a big fan of V8 supercar and prior to that Group A and Group C Australian touring car series etc, (Group C was cool!) but I dunno about COTF yet - im not quite convinced to be honest, it doesnt really introduce other auto manufacturers to the Holden/Ford only race the touring car championship turned into with V8 supercar, it just introduces their engines, the chassis are all the same in COTF. To me, the chassis is as much a part of the race dynamics of the car as the engine, (I'm not counting the driver and crew here just the car), and Nissan is racing an engine you cant actually buy in Australia at the moment, and if you could, you wouldnt get it on an Altima, and would most likely have some issues getting a RWC if you imported and fitted one to an Altima. So I dunno, what are actually we watching now? Certainly, I think COTF brings in the idea that if everybody raced identical cars with identical engines we would see a real race of drivers and teams, (and that probably the better financed teams would do pretty well, but there would be underdog champions), and that could well be appealing to many who are not currently motor sport fans, but I dunno yet about whether I can really look at the COTF Nissan and call it a Nissan, same goes for the the COTF Holden/ Frod and Merc. Hope I am not being negative, but thats sota what Im feling atm. Skaifey is credited with putting heaps into the COTF platform, but I recall he started out with Nissan - a double agent? Then again, if Holden and Ford both go front wheel drive for Commodore and Falcon in the future maybe COTF had to happen. Oh whoops, did I really just spell Ford 'Frod', damn this cheap as keyboard! Just keeping the fun in it. lol. I'd love to see a Group A or Group C spec race again, Group C Holden and Ford would obviously dominate, but Group A, well, that could be anyones, BMW and Jag would probably get back in there, possibly Audi and VW too you'd get Toyota, Nissan and Mazda for sure, maybe Honda, Subaru - that'd be a way cool race these days.
