So the theory/usual story rings true!

Well, at least somebody had a good time ruining it.
The original builder wouldn't have been impressed and it's a sad ending for a nice Van.
It is good though that we know the story at least. Many a Van vanished without a trace. Myths spring eternal!

At least they were thieves with good taste. I notice they left the full length rear bumper behind.

They probably had a HQ and the bumperettes suited by matching it's front bar.

Met a guy about 3 years ago south of Wollongong who had a a few cars in his fron yard and down the side of his house covered by over grown weeds etc, one was a Holden Van not 100% sure might have been a HQ , anyhow it had the Monza type front end and Jaguar rear suspension , it was a basket case due to the rust, it was painted in a light colour, I think the only van I recall with jag rear end was Alley Cat? or similar name not sure if it could be the same van, should go around and see if its still there but cant remember the street.

Well it ain't Alley Cat because we know where that one is.

Many Vans ended up with Jag rear ends. Checkmate, Jade, Star Warrior to name just three.
Where was is it South of Wollongong? I'm originally from the Gong.

Penny just dropped, you spotted Graeme's Van at Lake Heights the Van was a re-build of Mid Summer Dream (III). It was actually in two-pac primer (light creamy yellow "faded")
He got very sick for a while and abandoned the project and it was left outside and turned to rust and some parts were stolen off it from his driveway. It's a real pity as it was very close at one stage.

Thats the one, I went to his place to buy some decals from him which he does for 1/18 scale model cars, think he had a escort van as well, the van was a total basket case. Any chance if you from the Wgong you remember a guy called Mark Zickar who owned a green HZ van called Foxy Lady in the early to mid 80's. Nice van although he was always blowing up gearboxes or it was copping yellow canaries he was a regular at South Beach, Wollongong. Remember the name of another guy Luscombe ? who I think was also into the vanning scene at the time. Any chance your the SMOOTH that had the performance shop in Elliotts Road, Fairy Meadow?

Was this van originally on the Gold Coast?
I remember a mate had something very similar, with the van name across the tailgate in that script that isnt easy to read.
The bloke's name was Rod and he shot himself in the head over a girl in the early 80s.
Nah, I'm just driving around looking for someone with licence.

Yup, Smooth from Smooth Customs in Fairy Meadow (I've been sprung!). I do remember Mark and his Van Foxy Lady and yes Graeme does the model decals and have Escort vans also. Not sure about the name Luscombe but there was Glenn Lusty from Bulli who had a Van called White Demon. He was good mates with Graeme, he moved up Newcastle way. Seeing as you remember my shop you may remember my Big Block HQ Van?
