    Dandenong HZ

I've finally finished databasing the total HZ production at Dandenong. These are the figures:

661 total production at Dandenong plant.
    112 x cab chassis.
    549 x vans.

    Tonner breakdown:
    67 x L20 (some may be L23)
    40 x L32
    5 x L31

Holden Van breakdown - 474 total:
190 x L20 (some of the L20 may be L23, but not many)
    2 x L23
    199 x L32
    83 x L31

Kingswood van breakdown - 75 total:
    24 x L20
    40 x L32
    11 x L31

264 of the Holden vans are possible or definite Sandman ie L32 or L31, M20, M21, M40 or M41.

I have 25 in total of the 661 recorded. So if anyone (especially in Victoria which is where you'll find them) comes across a Dandenong HZ please grab some ID. Even if you just get chassis and body number, TRIM line and VIN. That is all that is needed. GVW would be nice but not always necessary.

But because of your post I went looking at some photos on an old hard drive and found this HX Sandman.
Not sure if you already have it in your database?

So if you add Sydney brisbane made sandmans there weren't that many made even in hz I though the numbers would be higher that that
so they are and are worth more today than yesterday.
    Thanks hk for your wisdom

The last Dandenong commercial was completed on 20/1/78, the rest were finished by xmas '77. So this is less than 4 months production.

Heaps. Most HZ came from Elizabeth and Acacia Ridge. I did HZ Dandenong first as it is a small sample and only vans and tonners so easier. HZ is easy too as there are no 6cyl Sandmans. The most surprising of the lot were 2 x 253 manual tonners with 3.36 diffs. The 3spd one would be better as 3spd has a much lower reverse, but L32 M20 GV4 would be awful with a tonne onboard.
Not sure what to do next. Either Pagewood HZ which means utes too and some into 1978 or Dandenong HX.
