AT HZ release the GTS nose changed from dual to quad headlights, and as Sandman used the GTS nose (except for grille badge) it went the same.

Other way around. HX went more upmarket, HJ Holden Sandman was more poverty pack but it was a sports package in HJ and a HX was more of a luxury level upgrade, of course HJ KIngswood Sandman was both sports and luxury. HX Sandman was originally going to be available on both Holden and Kingswood, but they realised how much of a pain it was to build a special Kingswood body just for Sandman (delete all the side strip hardware) from the HJ ute experience. So they effectively canned the two base model Sandmans (Holden ute and van Sandman) and just stuck with 2 x models, but to avoid having to delete the side strips on Kingswood they used the Holden models and added everything Kingswood to them except for the side strips, then applied the Sandman upgrade. Thus HX Sandman gained the following Kingswood features as standard:
Cigar Lighter
Door trim and hardware
Front door jam switch package
Bright sill plates
Full length headlining
Grille badge
Bright tail lamp surrounds
Mylar insert on ute rear window
Seats
Forced Air ventilation
Carpet
HZ was basically exactly the same, no more luxury than a HX, just followed the GTS in nose treatment.
