I dont understand why knowing the numbers is so bad. If you have the bonnet up on desirable car at a show - there they are..... On a stock run-of-mill car WTF?

I could understand if you were trying to sell plates on ebay... those can be recorded as off-the-car and the internet has a long memory when they resurface on a matching number car.
