    M20 is aussie 4 speed.... Definatley not originally a column shift by the tags

    u need to look for headlining teeth, door light switches so on and so forth... sandman hunting is tricky business!!

    ID plates are HZ Sandman, but they may not be on the original body. Is it 1950kg or 2200kg? Heaps were changed to trimatic to get away from the awful aussie 4spds. I used to change them whenever I had one as a drive car. Especially 202 or 253 as you'd change the diff to a 3.08 at the same time.

    Did they ever come out with trimatic, is it a possible option.??

    It was new to me. All HQ-HZ Sandman were optional as an auto, this one was a manual though originally with M20 on the BODY plate. As I said it was common to turf crappy old 4spd's in the bin for a trimatic if you wanted to tow or carry a load.
