Advice on buying a HQ Sandman van.

Being offered a Hq sandman van For $ 6000 grand , is complete including motor, gear box, interior etc (all original matching numbers ) gun metal grey paint 202 engine .has a little bit of rust in the normal spots including the seam that would normally be under the windows not the barley channel . Not being someone that knows anything about panels vans at all what problems should I be looking for apart from verifying what it is and what price would be reasonble price to pay a restored and un-restored van

Your biggest issue is validating that it is an actual sandman..... Being gunmetal certainly helps. I have heard of a 6 cylinder HQ Sandman in Gunmetal in echuca is this the same one?

Put up the tag details plus any other info you have as 6 grand is a lot of money if you cannot be certain that its a sandman....

It must be a 1974 model to be any chance and 2 seat capacity.

Put up all the numbers from the tags. That will help.

'74 Year Modal, Paint Colour, Seating Capacity and M22 Gearbox look right.
I'm sure Byron will let you know more when he reads this thread.

Factory Metallic Paint, 6Cyl with Stump Puller M22.

I think the trim code should be

    Trim 1366-30B

    Not

    Trim 1366-308

    30B = Black

I think it would be B as you say, in hq that B i'am pretty sure it refers to bucket seats
On the skinny tag the 6th digit would be a D for 74 build
And the 7th digit would probably a J for dandenong assemble or L adelaide
On the body I'd plate detail it doesn't, look quite right but i'am not sure about hq but it probably would read HQ8WM70

I didn't know m22 went in panel vans. Thought it was a one tonner thing. There u go.
Also it needs more than 2 seat capacity. It needs to have the console/seat separator mounts. I think bucket seats were available in hq without the seperator but not on sandman.

m22 may of been available with 6 cylinders and agree would need console bracket gts gauges ,horizontal fluted guards etc let this one go though to the keeper ( Byron ) for final say but is very promising
