No, not just HJ but I believe the HJ front mount is of a slightly different design to HX on.Is the console mount only for HJ or all Sandman series?

Nunc est bibendum...
And on trim codes my late hz machine sandman the trim code is 63c
Door handles are a great way to discover a samdman but are to easy to change if someone is trying to falseafy a sandman but they are an item that I have found that general doesn't get changed and are my first visual pointer and I have discover unknown sandman using the door handles first and then better investergation
HZ jasmine yellow sandman van
HZ Madeira red sandman van (now sold to bigrob)
HX mandarin red sandman ute
HZ malachite green sandman van
Married to Jennie285
These are all really good pointers thanks for everyone input.
If we added everything suggested into the document it might get a little too big - like Byron said his book has 15 pages dedicated to basic identification.
The purpose of this document is a flyer that you or others can make a quick reference to?
What if we just broke it down to the real basics like;
XX7 stamp for Brisbane builds
Commercial body codes (except the early HJ Kingswood ute)
2 Seat
Floor shift (privde codes)
GVM ranges
Headlining strip for commercial vans
If the above criteria are met then it is recommended to get more info from mySandman.com.au
What are your thoughts people?
Maybe include some obvious things that exclude it from being a Sandman. ie: 3 seater on tag, no headlining strip, GVM etc.
Seeing as it seems to be easier to tell if it isn't a Sandman.
I'd go the other way Blocker. Things that make it not a Sandman:
All: 3 seat capacity, column shift, lack of console shift (4spd with no console).
HJ-HZ: lack of rear and side attachment hardware for headlining for Sandman van.
HX-HZ: Kingswood model ie N80 or N70, lack of interior light door switches.
HZ: 6cyl, not one of the unique tyre placards.
If it passes these then ask questions!
Lack of XX7 on Acacia Ridge is not the be all and end all: It could be an XU3 or something else that i'll reveal later.
GVM is a big trap, lots of XU4's out there.
Sandman was available on HJ Kingswood ute for the whole of HJ. HJ Holden Sandman ute was dropped early in 1976.
See how it becomes a big can of worms trying to condense it all?!
Agreed...process of elimination would stop most people in their tracks and clear up confusion.![]()
Trim codes for HQ not necessarily all 30B, 39B (Chestnut) was definitely in the one I owned in 1982, everything else correct though. Current Ute, whilst not able to prove authenticity is 38J.
Kingswood is going to make it tricky.
Nearly on the Road
That is correct, B trim coded in HQ is for Belmont with buckets only. Kingswood have E or J, but on HQ Kingswood there is no difference in codes between bench and buckets like Belmont has (A and B codes). Again another reason why not to have a "Sandmans for dummies" section!
Gee and i thought torana codes were hard sandmans are just as hard to decifer
quick question byron did all 77hz sandman vans have courtesy lights under dash
