I'll check the colour of the engine. There are 3 x different reds. I think HZ is Holden Engine Red.

Did you fix the HZ wiring to get you full 12V at the coil? Just join the yellow and pink wires at the ignition switch plug, this will bypass the resistor in the harness.

Taken from torana forum.

VHT Rocket Red is too damn red, it doesn't have the Orange tint that you want.
VHT Chevy Orange is closer, but the pic below shows this guy used a NEW 2012 catalogue colour of the KBS Rocket Red (orange).

Its funny how different people tackle different projects.

I personally wouldn't be even turning a spanner it that engine bay until it was degreased and spotless!
Owner of one 2004 VY 'Holden By design' Sandman!

No I don't need a sticker package to tell me what I drive!

I just kinda plugged it in.. Lol.
There was a joining of two cables ambientgoat would know. I'll have a close inspection when I get home. So are you suggesting that I could get more power out if the ignition? That would be great. I kinda figured if it works it works?

Cheers Blocker, I'll get onto that later today, should be fun. I'll try a few different shops.

SMQQTH I know what you mean! I never touched a car until I started my van and only started doing real mechanical work when I got the hz. This is what I was used to..

But there is something appealing about getting filthy while working on an old car smashing your hands up achieving something. instead of throwing money at a pristine car that you need to wrap a cloth around your spanner every time you want to look at it.

HK, it's running on the 9v or whatever if is ATM.
I'd caught a one day virus from something I'd drank on Australia Day. They old grey matter wasnt really up to speed so just aimed to get her up and running to prove it was just a timing etc issue and we didn't need to swap engines out.
Will bridge out the resistor wire next time.

Cool. It won't really be more power, just needs full 12V to allow it to rev properly over 3000rpm or so. Best way to do it is pop the pink and yellow terminals out of the plug that goes to the ignition switch and solder a join between then, then push back into the plug.

When he said power I think he meant power as in current, not power as in torque.

The ignition switch is the white brick on the steering column?
