What got you into Sandmans

I am the youngest of 5 boys and got my interest in cars from a couple of them. Always loved HQ -WB commercials and clearly Sandmans are at the top of the tree.
So..... whats every ones story.

M8 Ive built a 1 Tonner, Had a HQ Prem(my first car) 2 SS Crewmans, but always saw a
Sandman as the car I never had and ALWAYS wanted!!
Think I now FINALLY have one!! (4 2 many windows 4 me)

my old man had a hj sandman new and i was the first to damage it on my p plates..

my old man was also a car nut and as soon as the ashtray was full he would trade it in on another holden..i spent at least twice a year at holden dealers...he also lost shitloads of money on cars as he just put them on the never never.......:cry:

i grew up in the van scene and its always stuck with me..

These pics are a repeat from a previous thread but it shows how I got into Sandmans or just panelvans in general...we lived it...they were the cars of our era...drive-ins, cruising about...camping....and water ski-ing

The main reason I got a sandman is because I always wanted one! I had a HZ 308 van with windows for about a year but just when I had just about to pay to get it painted up I saw a HR Panelvan and thought I would rather have that, but they weren't a sandman. One of my mates loved his sandman and very regretfully got rid of it and when I went for a drive in his a couple times I knew I just had to have one.
