i thought the HZ grilles were black plastic not painted, I have painted my sons HQ grille in satin black and it looks good
HZ are black plastic, same as GTS. This is mine pre resto, bugs and all.

As for the HQ they were painted black. These are a couple of pics of mine as is in original worn condition, I think it would be a matt finish.

As above. HQ are black painted grille, same as SS.
The only one I have ever seen which is the original black plastic was on our red van originally but it had hit something so was broken, We just ended up painting a metal HZ grille black with Matt Black...on all our vans, buy grilles from swap meets in case we hit birds etc.

My NOS HZ GTS/Sandman grill is black plastic. My NOS Prem HZ grill is Black plastic painted silver.

Since I have no idea. I thought they were metal but Rodney said they are plastic it felt like metal when I took it back with sandpaper to bare metal which is not in fact metal the grill from red van was black plastic not painted black.

Your nos HZ grill is silver, it could be painted but I quite sure you don't want me to sand it to find out.
