HQ wagon bars look great with the WB Statesman large rubber moulds if you have the matching WB Statesman front. HJ-WB Hinges don't allow the bar to lift high enough, that and the fact these hinges are just plain ugly. Designed that way to allow the tailgate to drop fully.

Like anything, if it is fitted up correctly and done in such a way that it "could" have come from factory it will look great.
That said, factory got it all wrong right from the start with bumperettes on any model - YUK!

You must remember that the bumperettes go all the way back to the FE (I don't think 48-215s and FJs had them) and the reason for them was that the spare wheel door made it too hard to have a full width bar. The factory carried on the tradition with the HQ even though it was no longer necessary. I seem to remember FJs and 48-215s had rubber ones, or maybe they were an aftermaket thing.
