    Mineral or Synthetic?

What oil do you use in your classic?
Do you specifically look for a brand, are you on the synthetic or mineral side of the fence or maybe you just don't care and let the Mrs decide when you get her to change your oil

older engines require some mineral component.... so a semi synthetic is probably the best option.

modern engines such as the one in the my 2010 sv6 commodore sportswagon I only use 5w-30 penrite full synthetic and only because I plan on keeping the car for at least 5 years otherwise it would get semi synthetic as well

Yeah mineral. They are a low tech engine with big clearances.
I run fully synthetic in my Husaberg though......$140 for 4 litres!

Always used 20W50 Pennzoil mineral based oil in mine. Gets changed every 5K/6mths though. The 60,000km I've put on it in 15 years haven't had any issues related to the oil.

20W50 in the Premier. But I use 10W-40 Synthetic in both the Hilux and the RX350. And always use Synthetic transmission fluid nowadays.

I distributed Pennzoil on the South Coast/Southern Tablelands for many, many years until I sold it to the North Coast distributors at the time (DealQuip) Last I knew Harrigan Ford were the distributors in Wollongong.
Pennzoil has a huge range. Still, the best suited oil for the Red Holden V8 from their range is mineral Pennzoil GT Performance 20W50 SF/SH
At a push Straight Pennzoil HD 40W although not suitable for colder areas.

That said, all the major oil companies offer great oils. Just stay away from "Friction Modified" oil's like the old Castrol GTX.
Friction Modifiers are Plastics (like Teflon) and anyone who has ever lifted a valley and seen the dry cracked clay bed look or tried fishing the the plastic sludge in the sump will be aware of why I don't recommend friction modified Castrol oils.
