1974 HQ Holiday model (vacationer) sedan

Anyone like a very rare HQ sedan in remarkable condition? Very rare car, probably rarer than a HQ Sandman!

This is Aquamarine (single colour), 202 column trimatic, front discs, bench seat with armrest, carpet and has knee freezer air (fitted in 1982). Has full original books and appears to be low kM. Has original engine. No rust (99% rust free anyway). Some seat repair needed, rest is great. A couple of minor dings. Really needs the dings fixed, and the paint scotchbrited and painted. I already looked for the build sheet as there is no known HQ XY8 build sheets around. Couldn't find the build sheet but all the original underfelt is there and dry and no floor rust, carpet looks original. Has over-riders. Engine bay just needs a clean, has that stupid clear over the slush black as it was built during early HJ production. Has an old pushbutton AWA radio fitted. Dash is gorgeous condition.

If keen it isn't all that dear for what the car is as $5k, let me know. You'll pay $1,000+ just for a good HQ sedan shell, and this is a whole driving car with books. Ozbox has it, but he's flat out with other stuff at present so I put this here for him.

As far as I can tell, a HQ XY8 is Kingswood 6cyl sedan or wagon, released 7/74, 202 column auto, fold down armrest (like Premier), full carpet and possibly rear venetian. Wagon gets power tailgate.

If you can paint, a beater would probably charge you $500 to fix the dents, rub it back and give it a coat (maybe another $500 in paint if you can do it yourself). Inside doors, under boot etc are all fine. Has some aftermarket trailer blinkers added to the front guards so fill & file those holes, but otherwise the front panels are straight and clean.
Brakes need attention, has a new master cylinder so probably just need a bleed. Engine and box are sweet apparantly. Drivers doortrim has a few holes in it in funny spot, but serviceable. Drivers side of seat has a tear, and one tear on driver's side of rear seat.

I'll be going back tomorrow to get some hi-res photos of the paint treatment on the firewall and a few other bits for reference, so I can grab some pictures.

Located in Lake Macquarie (near Newcastle).

A good car at a good price, and an HQ also. Would have been an oldies car with the extra indicator's and so on. I just have no where to keep it.

    Cheers.

    Sounds like a cracking car

I thought all Vacationers were 2 tone, or is it another special edition?
Byron could you get pics of the tags, the id cert and some interior shots? Thanks in advance

Will do. There are two other 1974 HQ Kingswoods there too: an Elizabeth 8/74 aquamarine with glacier roof, 202 3spd, plus an orchid with glacier roof, also 202 3spd but 4/74 Pagewood. All 3 have original engines and original paint mostly.

They can't all be two tone, this one isn't! Definite Holiday model with front armrest and carpet.
