400 meters from home at 5:30pm yesterday a guy towing a trailer can't stop in time to avoid running into the rear of the car slowing down in front of him so he swerves to the inside lane and hits my wife and daughter driving along with his trailer blowing out our front left tyre and forcing her up over the centre medium strip and into oncoming traffic.
Fortunately no injuries to either my wife or my daughter only shaken up.
Long story short he refused to believe he hit her and had it not been for our next door neighbour driving behind him speeding up and flagging him down he would have kept going. He refused to give us his name and address until the police came. The police didn't want to attend a minor accident and it took five phone calls to them and a 5hr wait for the police to show up and finally ordered the guy to give up his details or face a fine.
Fortunately our insurance company AAMI were fantastic and at 2:00pm today we took the car down to their assesment building and it is now in for repairs. Unfortunately we have been told it will be two weeks before we get it back.
A hole in the tyre the size of a 50c piece.
Damaged front bumper, front guard, steering damaged, front door damaged and rear bumper damaged when she reversed into a pole trying to get of the centre island..
The culprit.....
