Now you are getting closer. I am very much that way with historical stuff and facts, hence why I love survivor cars. It is why I have my Prem. But I have much less interest in concours restored stuff. Put your old BBC van next to a concours restored one, and a ratty old but untouched example, i'll be all over the ratty one, then onto yours from a personal interest perspective and wow factor. The restored one is of little interest other than to appreciate the volume and quality of work, and to like it for what it is. I suppose the best way to explain it is knda like standing in awe of the collaspsed temple of Zeus at Olympia versus standing looking up at a brand new skyscraper. I must have walked around the temple for an hour, but a 30 second look at a tower followed by "that's impressive" and move on.
I must admit though that I do like modified cars to appear stock, not into lowered, big wheels, things hanging out of bonnets and dodgy fitting stuff, but that is just me. I'd happily buy someone's concours resto attempt on a HQ Sandman and replace the driveline with GenIII and 4L65E, but have that all hidden.
