I hate being a cynic, but I guess when there's a chance of making a few bucks then most people will swing at the chance and I have been on the receiving end a number of times to become the cynic I am today.
There's a 'Sandman' ute advertised on ebay atm. You get the car and lots of bits and another 'HJ' ute thrown in.
So I headed down today and met the guy selling it - He is NOT the guy that has done the work on the car and I believe him. He is just selling the cars and parts.
Anyway I wanted to check out this mystery ute and investigate the plates and possibly even make an offer.
What I found was a HX ute primed and without plates. The plates are now on ebay... The chassis number is non existent on the car. There is still significant rust on the in side of the panels - strange considering this was a body off restore?!?!
The dash is a woodgrain, possibly from a Statesman and more significantly there is no hole in the floor for gear shift.
I'll leave the rest up to conjecture and discussion, but here are a couple photos I took.
This is inside the left rear quarter - the better looking of all internal panels.
