    Big nut master cylinder

Everyone I speak to say you have to have the big nut master cylinder, but no one can tell me why it is necessary.

Is it because they are period correct, better, serviceable or what?

Period correct. I wouldn't say better in any way except that if you're half way handy with a spanner they are not difficult to re-kit as long as the internal surfaces haven't pitted too badly.

You can't get proper PBR alloy replacements anymore either.

So the big nut units are period correct, but servicing is difficult because lack of parts?

Not inherently difficult, they sometimes need a re-sleeve due to pitting from moisture suspended in the brake fluid setting around the internal seals. I have seen rebuild kits come up on ebay from time to time but not sure on availablity of them new from brake repair outlets. Companies such as Hoppers Stoppers etc would be able to answer that query.

    Thanks.
I have 3 (no nut) cylinders here and deciding if I should really chase a big nut one just so I can be period correct.
    I would rather be driving.
