Mate it doesn't matter if they are race or not. I always shim the rocker pedestals on standard rocker gear. Get yourself a hand full of copper shims, a Long handle ratchet to wind her over and set each cyl one at a time.

get some 1.5 mm {(2.5 mm x (1/1.5 rocker ratio)} shims and run them underneath your rockers. thats how i would patch it up.
OR run a set of roller rockers...
Chris, i think you may be getting confused as race applications are adjustable applications
Hydraulic lifters are suitable for Stage 1,2,3 and stage 4 + cams start to require solid lifters.
standard holden V8 settings are set to tight onto the head studs and forget about them. = non - adjustable..
Holden 6 motors HQ up had non adjustable.
Early holden 6 motors (big spark plug head) had adjustable rockers and a standard hydraulic cam.
so a Standard motor can have both adjustable and non adjustable, but a race motor would just only run adjustable..
