Sandman Autos.

Howdy All,
General question. How rare are Sandman autos? Mine is taged M40 (tri-matic), behind my L32 with the Gazelle coloured interior. Would this combination be specific ordered or just a variant for the consumer to view upon?

Auto was an optional extra so was probably specifically ordered that way by a customer. Auto with 253 in a Sandman is quite rare.... most were 4sp.

One thing that lets it down is the poor reproduction lenses in the facia. Apart from that very nice.

I think when I first bought the van from Mildura Vic, the bloke told me it was a customer ordered car from Adelaide originaly. Make sense I suppose with the combo I've got, which I think is pretty rare.

i think bryon once said after i emailled him some ID tags of a 308 T400 van that he only had 6x T400 sandmans total out of the 300 or so he had recorded at the time.
my guess would be that he may only have 5 or 6 trimatic auto sandmans too.

The mistral gray van I just sold was factory 253 and trimatic.

Most of the 308 T400 Sandmans were ordered for Overlander conversions.
