Hehehe, I have those moments quite frequently myself..... the older I get the more frequent they happen.. not to mention my eyesight isn't what it used to be...:errf:

I went looking for a tailgate badge on Ebay and in eight or so pages of Holden badges not one was listed.... there should be heaps of them around as every base model HJ to HZ van and ute had one....

A quick question on this subject......

Did all models originally have this central badge? or just Hq/Hj models?

    Cheers Al

HQ Sandman ute had either a Belmont or Kingswood badge on the right side of the tailgate and a V8 or 202 badge on the left side of the tailgate, HQ Sandman van had a Belmont badge on the right side of the tailgate and V8 or 202 badge on the left side.

HJ Sandman ute had a Holden or Kingswood badge in the centre of the tailgate and the engine capacity badge on the right side of the tailgate. HJ Sandman van had a Holden badge in the centre of the tailgate and the engine capacity badge on the right side of the tailgate. 202, 4.2 or 5.0 engine capacity badges.

HX and HZ Sandman had the Holden badge and engine capacity badges deleted due to the tailgate decal. Engine capacity badges (4.2 and 5.0) were optional on the tailgate of both models and were mounted on the lower right of the tailgate if optioned.

i havent found a badge yet but i did find a lower gate tha i was going to reskin until i found a new old stock one...anyhow it was off a hj sandman 6 cylinder that was at a wreckers local to me and it still has the holes for the holden badge and looking at it compared to the pics of that red one i reckon he has his badge placed wrong..should be lower towards the beauty line..

The search is over thanks to member "AN5590". He/She sent me a pm advising that the badge I was after was on ebay (which I got with 27 mins to go).....even thought the ad only showed a pic of a mudflap. Anyway, I got it and sincere thanks to all who have replied and, of course, to AN5590...I owe you one.
