Watching the news tonight and they announced a new law has just been passed in Qld making it illegal to swear in a public place... If caught swearing in public it is a $100.00 on the spot fine..

Biggest load of shit I have heard this year...... that just cinched the decision... we're definately moving south...

lol! are you serious. Maybe they should worry what goes in peoples mouths eg the drugs on the street before worring about what comes out of peoples mouths.

    Swearing from a womens perspective

Well much as you guys think that is a crazy law, and how they are going to implement that is beyond me. I do swear but not in public, and when you walk past a bunch of ferruls saying f...and c...and other such words, in the street, at the top of their lungs....and you have your mother, or your little children wth you....it is inappropriate....

On a good note ...maybe they will be too busy booking people for swearing than speeding......

    Its a good point jen.

There is a time and place to swear. with your mates in a controled enviroment, at home, and when you kick and tell the dog off for eating your boots.
I have had the same thing you say. walking past some young kids. (females also) and hear the C word come out. I dont believe there is any need ever to use that word. And im a country hick! lol..

We sometimes get truckies on our UHF channel. There is the standard farm UHF in the kitchen and it gets a little frustrating when they start swearing.
Your right about a time and a place stickthis. I usually find the time and place fairly often!

    Swearing.

I agree with Jennie, I worked for local government as a plant operator for 24 yrs, so I know all the word's. But I never carried on in public or with women or kid's around, that's wrong.

I found the same thing, you have to turn up the UHF to hear it properly with the window down, next thing you know you have to turn it down because of the language.

I agree the F and C words should be stifled in public although with the amount of movies being released where the F word gets thrown about a lot it tends to say to our younger generation it is Ok to use that word in general conversation.

Censorship is a slippery slope and we may find a lot of movies and even books could follow. This swearing law did not dictate particular words as tabboo but swearing in general which I understand to include .... shit, bloody, bastard etc.

So, if you are walking along the footpath in front of shops and kick your little toe on a table out the front you had better have a quick look around for a lurking Policeman before jumping up and down saying "holy shit that bloody hurt"....:errf:
