That is true, it is yours to do what you please. But it is close to one of the most desirable Sandman vans ever built: HJ 308 in Tuxedo with 60A trim. Even though it will be yours, doing it right (ie the right body) will only serve you in the future if and when you sell it. Use the right body and it'll always hold great value. Do it wrong and it'll detract greatly from its future value, regardless of how you build it otherwise. Just wait till a good restorable HJ 6cyl or 253 van comes up for sale and buy it. Onsell the rails with your rusted out black body and the 6cyl/253 tags with it to get some good $ back. There was a tagless HJ Sandman van body for sale on here a month or so ago too.

Got any pictures? If you want to do a van "your way" you might be better off starting with a good rust free regular van and cash this one in. If your budget isn't huge then a bit of extra cash from the sale and a mostly complete starting point may give you a better result for your dollars in the long run.

HJ Sandman van to HX Sandman van main differences:

    Headlining side strips.
    Whole firewall.
    Front console mount.

There are a few others too that will show up and make it a waste of time trying to restore a HJ Sandman using a HX body. You need an Acaicia Ridge HJ Sandman body shell.

This is as most the 16th last HJ Sandman van PSN built at Acacia Ridge, it isn't the 16th last completed but in PSN order it is the 16th last 4spd manual or auto van (all V8, no 6cyl 4spd or auto in this area). So very late in the scheme of things, built in the last week of volume HJ production at Acacia Ridge. A dozen or so HJ's were completed in the next week and the last few around 23/6.
