    253 and 308 breakpoints

    Guys

    I'm trying to nail down 2 x changes.

    Could anyone out there with a late red motor with heads off, like a ZR or ZT prefix or a later VB VT prefix please have a look at the inner valley head bolt bosses and see if they are short or long?

    Also anyone with a WB or VC-VH 253 or 308 have a look and see if they have 253/308 cast on one side or both sides?

    It can't be a 1988 VT engine number, do you mean 1978? Can you get me the engine number and the date code off the VT block?

    Hi HK;

    sorry for the poor pic; mine is a "ZT" 2F9 & looks like it has long bosses (can't re-check; it's reasembled!)

    Definitely looks like it has long bosses. It appears that once the Bedford 253 and 308 "silver" engines were introduced at least some (or all) red engines got the long valley bosses. Sometime mid-late in 1978. The silver engines were the first of the "blue" motors.
