    Retro rego labels

I'm thinking of getting a retro rego label to suit the era of the Monaro, and seeing I am losing the current label in June I thought it would look lost without one,my question is , would it be legal? I just see it as a window sticker but the police might think otherwise.

Good question (and great idea) I would think that there shouldn't be an issue with it, although to be safe it might be worth waiting the full 12 months so that no-one else in NSW has a rego label either.

I reckon they would have to be a prick of a cop to hassle you over it though.

Yeah, I have been making them and using them on my older show cars.
Waterslides with the year of "first" rego. Plenty of people comment and never had any issue with the coppers.

If it's a show only thing, place a regular sticker over the top that you have in bulk supply and remove to reveal at the show.

I'd say once the real labels are all gone from our roads it shouldn't be an issue.

    That's a great idea.

I haven't thought about the old waterslide ones in years. I remember "helping" my old man put them on when I was a kid lol

You must be a very young man then v8van, I cant remember when they changed to stick on, but I didn't think it was that long ago....we have a 1986 Rego label on our Malchite van, and the pity its it has a cracked windscreen as I would have left it there...not only was it the year we got married, but it has the Parkes radio telescope on it, to celebrate Haleys Comet...I would love a reproduction of that to put on one of our vans

I'm pretty sure I have that one (brown) from memory. I have the bicentennial versions also.

Sorry guys, there is a specific offence for failing to remove expired label.

Oh, and I remember the labels that had to be soaked in a bucket. It was my job as a kid to scrape the old one off and from memory they used to come of in about a million tiny pieces with a razor blade.
