Google Colin Box. He was doing the same thing in the 80's. Joined ute/van chassis front half to the tonner chassis to extend by about 500mm which you need to do for it to work. He used to join front half of back wagon/stato doors to back half of front doors. Used rear window glass and mech and a Lexan window for the fixed glass of the door. Bit of stuffing with making the back seat fit the tonner cab back. Also look at the roof shape near the gutters of wagon and stato, tonner has sedan roof shape. I think it works better with sedan shell and using a bit more tonner roof and sills, but some measuring is in order.. I think he also did some using the ute back half too. How cool would a van version be too?
