    Cool McCool WB Statesman tonner

Cheap as, injected 304 and 4L60. I can't believe no-one has grabbed this yet, or at least made an offer!

    $8500 in East Gippsland, Vic.

Wrecked Statesman if you ask me!
Running gear is cool, car itself does nothing for me. Tray is too small and the rear wheel arch is worse then those flares you despise Byron from the '70's.

You never know, it may have been hit in the bum and this was how it was saved?
I look at it as a good way to have a tow car that is comfortable in the back. Tray size is really irrelevant in those circumstances, not really that different to the tray size on most twin cab utes. The fact it has a tonner chassis means it'll tow better than the Statesman ever would have.
I never said I despise the 70's flares, just they make me cringe because I know how much work it takes to fix the damage created by them. The inbuilt mudflaps or whatever they are on this car aren't all that bad anyway, the treatment behind the doors at the top looks worse. No-one will be trying to undo any of it in the future anyway. Plus it looks better to me than some of the attempts i've seen to do something similar with 80 and 100 series Landcruisers where the original chassis has been retained.

Nice. I reckon it's done pretty well. The tray integrates well into the body lines and I don't even mind those mudflaps. If we weren't in the middle of expensive house restorations I reckon I'd be making offers on it at that price.

It is a very simple concept to, the tonner chassis would slip straight under a Statesman or Wagon with the back cut off, just have to come up with a way to make the back look neat.

I was actually thinking about that this morning, before seeing this thread.

My thought was to cut a wagon halfway through the rear doors, and then use the back half of a tonner cab. Should give reasonable adult sized rear doors and legroom along with a mostly factory look and avoid the "half arsed rear wheel arch syndrome" that seems to affect most of these vehicles.

Google Colin Box. He was doing the same thing in the 80's. Joined ute/van chassis front half to the tonner chassis to extend by about 500mm which you need to do for it to work. He used to join front half of back wagon/stato doors to back half of front doors. Used rear window glass and mech and a Lexan window for the fixed glass of the door. Bit of stuffing with making the back seat fit the tonner cab back. Also look at the roof shape near the gutters of wagon and stato, tonner has sedan roof shape. I think it works better with sedan shell and using a bit more tonner roof and sills, but some measuring is in order.. I think he also did some using the ute back half too. How cool would a van version be too?
