Big fan of Redhot
Just had a look at the brochure and Quicksilver and Cosmo Mica was added in series 2 for VY.....along with the Heron White, Redhot and Phantom Mica. Cosmo interior colour was also added the interior range
Turbine grey was available in the Crewman series 1 as well.
When did Hothouse green come out? None of my series 1 and 2 brochure show that colour in the lineup!!!!
Hot House Green was VY Series I SS only.
If you remember Channel 10 had a renovating/building show with contestants called "The Hothouse"
It was on one of the Islands near Brisbane. First prize included 2x Hot House Green SS Ute's.

Hothouse was available on V2 and V2II, so it was around from 2001, but not sure where else. It wasn't a colour for VUII as the ugly hero colour in that was Hyper (metallic poo yellow). It was definitely around in VY as Innuendo says (which is the same timeframe as V2II). When I bought my Quicksilver V2 CV8 in Feb 2006 I could have had my choice of V2 CV8's in Hothouse like $5-$10k cheaper, no-one wanted them. The guy that bought my VY SS ute had a Hothouse VY V6 S ute, couldn't sell it or trade it, ended up virtually giving it away (like at half what he paid for it). I remember Cosmo with Cosmo trim! When I was looking for a CV8 there was a V2III Cosmo/Cosmo CV8 traded at the local Lexus dealer, fantastic car less than 12months since bought new with like 5,000kM on it or something like that. It was only about $2000 more than the V2 I bought with 28,000kM on it. Yuk! If it was Cosmo with black trim i'd probably have bought it, but the purple trim was disgusting to say the least!
My mrs has a Poison Ivy Cruze....jeez that colour looks awesome compared to Hothouse. Something about Cosmo doesnt work for me. And she isnt a fan of silver...that pisses me off no end. Really shouldve read the contract on that one![]()
Cosmo is a wierd colour. Purple Haze from V2II was a nicer colour. Cosmo did look nice on the CV8, it was the purple trim that turned my stomach. There were a few ordinary colours around that era, like Tiger, Hyper, Flame, Hothouse. Those coloured cars suffered badly on the used market. Good old black, red, white, silver were the smart choices if you planned to turn over the car within 3-4 years.
If I had the cash! Back in about 2003 I was talking to a dealer, and mentioned the VU concept Mambo Sandman that Holden did for the motor shows, knowing that the VY van was avail, and he said that the VU concept was not just a concept. He stated that Holden by Design would build a Mambo Sandman to full spec, including the interior and paint or to customers spec if orderd, and, that one had already been built for a customer in WA. Well I live on the east coat and he is a car saleperson so who knows if one was actually bought, but of course I asked the price anyway and he said $75,000 or thereabouts !!!! (75k seemed a lot more money in 2003 than it does today).
Anyways, I was dreaming, imagine the paint job, and interior you could put on that VY with the spare 55K... or even 5k. I dont mind it white though either.
