No, Leroy has just mixed up the photos I think. Ebay ad shows the right chassis number.

Blocker can you change the title of the thread
Just a comment on the trim and paint code. I have a genuine LJ GTR-XU1 which I am currently restoring
Trim 1822-40x (Lone Oranger)
Paint 567 - 13127 (Lime Green Metallic)
There must have been a mistake when stamping the trim code should have been 1832 (not 1822)
When I bought the car it was painted white but underneath was orange (no sign at all of ever being green)
I have done bare metal resto and after speaking with the "experts" have decided to paint lime green metallic.
It is an Adelaide built car so plates are punched from the top - must have been a monday car
Very unlikely that 1822 is wrong, as per previous post this would have been on the production broadcast sheet. 99.9% sure it will be the paint line that is wrong. Someone has probably misread the 1822 for 1832 and stamped the code for lime green metallic. This may be some proof that at Elizabeth the BODY tag was stamped early on, ready to attach to the vehicle after it left the paint shop but before it left the body plant (we know the BODY plate was attached after paint process). Possibly unlikely that the tag would be stamped after the body was orange, would sort of stand out like the proverbial! The original paper build records will show the colour 1822 as well (once they come to light!).
Thanks for that maybe I should have painted lone oranger. Quality control wasn't real flash during the 70's
I would have! I reckon you have more chance of winning Lotto that the TRIM line being wrong on a car. Whereas the PAINT line would have either been looked up off a table (or eventually memorised) by the person stamping the body tag, hence the element of human error being introduced.
No mate wrong bloke. I was only a young Tacker in the 70's
Welcome to the site damo, and thanks to the guys for steering you here too.
It's hard to give advice when the issue is down to personal choice. If you are looking at it from an investment point of view, the paint colour is only going to be a very small defining factor. If it is for judging in shows and trophy hunting the you are in a unique position to choose either of those two colours and have a great story behind it.
Thanks for the welcome Blocker and I look forward to login from time to time when I can. Interesting conversations on this site and I hope to learn a lot from it and look forward to getting to know a few of you all out there. I will post what becomes of the Sandman in coming weeks as to it fate. I am selling due to other projects having priority and inside space is an issue but if not sold soon a complete rebuild with have to be on the cards and it will find itself for sale again. Adam from Warnbro had the perfect Deville Blue body recently for sale but my timing was out and funds weren't available and by the time I called it was Gone. Never mind.
Also a big thanks to the guys out there giving me the info and the links to your site. Cheers guys.....
