No not everyone is an office worker. I know exactly the construction that happens in the CBD...as i do deliveries there.... and the general public not using public transport for their office commute to work make the roads unbearable. Most of the problem is the brain dead people going into the city for a cruise..which i dont understand. Years ago, going for a cruise meant getting away from the city. Instead 'yuppies' feel the need to show off their sound systems with doof doof music thinking theyre impressing the chicks.
I'm not a city person at all..far from it...so theres no self interest. The freeway infrastructure in Melbourne is terrible. If one freeway has an accident, theres no alternatives and the follow on traffic spreads like a virus and causes traffic chaos everywhere. Limiting the amount of cars can only be a good thing. Im sick of the 'im from the country and need a massive bullbar incase i hit a buffalo' attitude of the country hicks.....as if theyre compensating for something...much like the yuppies with their stereos and ridiculously large wheels.

I do agree of what has been said to a certain point.
But if we get to a stage of saying what we should and should not drive,Next it will be what we wear.Or we should ban V8 because they use too much petrol??
It is how different we are that makes us what we are.

Ohh, there's already "bone head's" out there that think V8's should be banned. No one need's them, and they should only be used in motor sport. Some people really do think that way, totally amazes me.

Worst part is Robbo, They are the ones who make the most noise, and eventually start the process of implementation. Then one morning we wake up to new rules to govern us that we were not even aware were in play. Starting to happen quite a bit lately.

I came back from a follow-up visit to the Surgeon that fixed my shoulder (6 weeks ago already) this afternoon, and to celebrate not having to have my arm in a sling and being able to drive again I took the van for a blast down to town to do some food shopping.

I parked right out front of the shops and a woman came out with her trolley full of groceries and looked at my van and said " Big old gas-guzzling V8!".
She then kept walking to her car, an almost new Mercedes. I asked her what her problem was and she said that cars with V8s should be banned and put off the road.

I then pointed out to her that her car had a supercharged V8 and probably weighed twice as much as my van, making it a bigger "gas guzzler" than my van with it's 253. She didn't even know what she was driving, but has been brainwashed to hate V8s! She stood and argued with me that her car didn't have a V8 as it was a Mercedes and they only make good, economical cars.

Unbelievable! Some people just will never understand......

Thanks, I see a light at the end of the tunnel now as far as my recovery goes. I've been in a very bad way up until I had that surgery and it was only the purchase of my van and in particular, the members of this forum that kept me going in the right direction.

Sorry, I didn't intend to hijack the thread with my personal stuff.

Sad thing is there is no such thing anymore as a true Aussie made V8, closest we have is Ford's XR8. A large amount of the Holden product (Commodore, Calias etc) is not made here, just assembled from parts made in Korea.
