I went and visited a friend who is building a Concouse HX Sandman. The level of detail he is going to is boardering on some sort of medical disorder. reproduction tailshaft paint markings, correct assembky stickers and his collection of NOS parts must be worth many $1000's.

Anyway while looking over his shell I was amazed how good it was for rust. After further inspection I saw the plugs, his car is one with the rust proof option.
There are heaps of these little plugs all over the place where it was drilled and I think by the look of it some sort of cavity wax was sprayed in.

Looks like a brown hard thick liquid which has hardened over the years

I think when mine gets hove im going to do a bit of this myself, I wont have to drill the doors, dog legs and inside the back as the panels are already off but har places like the tailgate upeer and lover I will drill a few of these holes. I will pump some rust converter and let it dry for a few weeks follwed up with cavity wax. I have located 12mm white plugs like factory to cover the holes.

Should ensure she looks good for years to come

Keep em in the shed. That stops rust.
Hj van shell I had was full of those plugs. Helped stop some rust. It all helps I suppose.

Certainly does a good job compared to vans with no rustproofing

My panel beater/sprayer, sprayed rust inhibitor and filled my car with a yellow wax, like they use in Europe, due to salting the roads over there in winter. Then he left it sit for another couple of months pumping more in each time it settled. Hopefully it works well. But I was very lucky he didn't find a great deal of rust in the Panno. Hope to keep it that way (shedded).

I actually can't imagine letting someone drill holes all over my brand new car. Mostly you can get the stuff in all the places without drilling the holes anyway.

I have seen a few old holdens with these black grommets in the body. My 253 valencia had it also. Quite a few had a Ming rustproofing sticker in the window
