Hi Grant (Grunt)
Uncle Bob from the US here, Your mum sent me the link to your sandman restoration.
You have done an amazing job so far and the results look great.
I am sure you will be very proud of the finished product and have a fine sense of achievement once it is completed.
Keep up the good work.
Bob
So then it came time to set up the pedal. When I bought the HZ bell housing clutch fork and pedal the guy told me they aere out of his factory spec HZ. After checking out the pedal I saw it was a 6 cylinder version, guess his car was from 2 different factories. Anyway what this means is the pull hook on the top is shorter and at a different angle and the length of the pedal is physically longer.
Thanks to the interweb some helpful guy on Old Holden posted this pic which shows the difference, thanks for his pic
So I chopped up the HX, and HZ pedal and made a Frankenpedal.... nothing is ever straight forward
The clutch pedal height will come up when the cable connected to the gear box
Happy to get the steering column back in
Oh on another note there is a lot of mystery trying to get the correct thrust bearing - release bearing / carrier to suit this setup mainly because its a discontinued part. I have found out that the same part is also used in late HZ, WB, VB, VC, VH. VL, VN, VR and some VS holdens on the T5 v8 box as well as the Aussie 4 speed M21. Go to your local Repco and tell them you are after a release bearing part number GSB396 should cost about $60.00
