So after living and driving the van for a while there a few bits that bugged me or needed a fine tune
THE PETROL CAP
When the car arrived there was a cap included, during the build process I fitted it on, looked ok so it was prepped and put away in a box to go the the spray painters and the rag shoved dack in the filler.
Cone finishing time and the cap was fitted it had a sloppy seal, it didnt fit tight against the neck of the fuel filler tube. This is how I fixed it
I went and bought a new cork fuel cap seal and fitted it.
This worked but pushed the cap out from the body lines and I didnt like it, just didnt look right
After having a look I worked out it could be fixed if I could extend the 2 locking taps so it pulls the cap back harder against the filler neck
Being finished and painted there could be NO bashing envolved so I broke out the MIG
I woked out if I could apply some weld to the end of the tabs it will extend them and pull the cap in harder
After a slight grind of the welds I fitted the cap, pretty happy with the result, fits snug to the body and applies good pressure to the filler neck.
I hope this helps someone as im sure im not the only one with this problem, let it cool down between each weld and it wont effect the paint or the rubber seal
