As you know, I have finally got my WB ute registered and on the road. The standard Varijet carby on it is, lets face it, a peice of crap!!!
So over the long weekend my brother and I did a custom conversion to fit a 34ADM Weber (XF Falcon) carby to it.
After putting a carby kit in the Weber, we fitted it up to the car, got it started and warm and adjusted the idle screw. Got it to idle smooth as at 750rpm! Perfect!!
It blew a little smoke, black intially and then a lighter whitish/black once it started running.. :/ It did not blow smoke like this before we removed the Varijet.
Then came time to adjust the choke (has to be done while stone cold..) We let it get cold, adjusted the choke butterfly and then tried to start it. It wound over for 15-20secs and then started to fire, only just started and then it died when giving it some revs :/
We've tried everything, adjusted the choke butterfly in every position, the fast idle adjustment in every position and still no change. :/
But in the process of trying to get it to work, its developed a misfire, quite a big one at that. :/
I refitted the standard Varijet carby, started easier, but still has the misfire, and still is blowing the smoke, but the smoke is more consistant/got worse the longer it has run...
I've removed all the spark plugs, and none seem ''wet'' from too much fuel (black smoke shows running too rich..) and they all had the normal amount of carbon on them.
I put the plugs back in, and then swapped over the ignition leads with a spare set I have. Started much easier, but still had the misfire and smoke. :/
I've got no ideas what to do now, and am at the point where I just want to kill it with a sledgehammer!
I kind of need it on the road for getting to and from work etc. but I can't find the problem :/
Anyone have any idea's???
