Thanks HK1837. My van is very funny I'm trying to track down info on it. Vicroads have told me the first time they had this van on record was 10 years ago. SA & NSW have no record of it. And yes has factory power steering. Thanks for taking the time to look at it for me. Cheers mate.![]()
Finally got around to this, the 253 in my van is QR477036.
HQ engine going by the low engine number I've been told.
I have a 253 in the shed with 1E9 i don't know if thats close to anyones van,it has rebuild stickers on the tappet cover.

Just had a dig around in the shed and found the old L.P.G plate off my van, I don't know if it is the original engine number but the plate was fixed on the 17/10/89 in Canberra. It must have been only just converted to gas not long before I bought it, unfortunately the engine was missing so I'm looking for QT146951 I got the van from CJ'S in Queanbeyan so anybody in the local area please check their sheds as CJ would have sold it locally. Is it the right number? build date 11/76, PSN 8M70TGL367817X (308)
I will contact CJ'S and see if they still have records of who they might have sold it to if it is the original engine.![]()
Someone told me CJs is under new management these days with the original owner out of the industry. Amazed to see Speeds at Mitchell hasn't changed at all in between visits about ten years apart.
