That's good Blocker, no more chassis drama's. Now with over 30 year's of wear and tear behind it, all the short coming's can be rectified and improved upon.

I can see your logic behind wanting to strengthen things during a rebuild but it did take 30 years to get that bad. I just question if you should be going away from original on a matching numbers car like yours.
I bet you'll have someone try and tell you it's a hz chassis later once you put the bars on.
    Just a thought anyway.

I'm not worried about a few bolt on bits mate, and certainly not going to be concerned about people's opinions of my car.

Yep, safety is number one. Any addition for strength can be justified and any potential future owner should thank you for being so thorough. I would!

Anyone know why this cut would have been done in the support beam?

Not sure Blocker, not factory as far as I know. Maybe to fit exhaust/mufflers, usually run down that side, in that vicinity.

I've been quoted around the $1400 mark to rebuild my HJ LSD. Does this sound about right?
It's a full strip and replacement of serviceable parts.

I'm way out of touch with current prices for diffs, but that's probably not too far off the mark for all new bits, built, lapped and I assume with a warranty. Nothings cheap anymore!
