Good news the Goatman's transmission has been pulled apart and is good enough to be reconditioned, with a variety of new parts etc. It should be ready in a couple weeks.
My 6 digit speedo arrived today () so I pulled out the 7 digit speedo to compare them.
The housing is exactly the same, there are different supplier markings on the top white section of the rear housing (for those who care).
Also the 6 digit's text is thinner which makes it look more raised off the backplate. I'm not sure if the 7 digit has been refurbished (unlikely knowing the previous owner) but the two screws on the fascia are different as well... (once again for those who care).

just as a bit of interest regarding trimatics..there is over 50 interchangeable parts from 4 cyl 6 cyl and 8 cyl.that should not be interchanged..no wonder there is so many pg13ed gearboxes out there
you could probably get a good runner trimatic for around $300. rebuild will be around $1500 upwards.

Yes important to know as I discovered but not late in the process. The supposed V8 trans I had in the first set of pictures is a bits-a of early and late V8, and 6cyl.
I paid a lot less than that for the replacement transmission from [MENTION=114]ambientgoat[/MENTION] and the reco/rebuild with heavy duty stall converter is $1000 flat at http://www.nova-automatics.com.au/index.html
