Lol, except Um, if they happened to be the rego inspectors waiting in the inspection pit and someone drove above them with the clutch cover missing, all those flywheel ring gear teeth spinning nicely at 2500 rpm, woah, I'd be pissed if I was one of em! Definately wont pass rego without it.
I'ts called by all the terms given above by members in the answers on this thread, but semi officially; 'flywheel cover' (Max Ellory's) ; 'flywheel cover plate' (Gegorys) ; and I think Holden also called it both an 'clutch inspection cover' and a 'clutch dust cover', periodically over many different models, - terms change over time. I usually call it the lower bellhousing cover.
You are possibly better of with a wreckers than ebay - at least then you can take it back more easily enough if it doesnt fit (they do all look pretty similar in a photo).
Very grateful for all your answers and i will be extra carefull at perdesrian crossings. Unfortunately I'm sure I'll have more stupid questions to follow.
Frosty there is only one stupid question when working with old Holdens, and that is the question you don't ask.
HQ Glacier White Belmont Ute
Wanted Lanspeed accessories for Holden Grey engines, twin carb manifolds, extractors, rocker cover, 3 speed floor shift.
6cyl ones were on blue motors.
I have a new stupid question. Grunt said he has had his Taco altered to work with electronic ignition. I am puting HEMI (I think thats what its called) ingnition in my van and haven't changed the Taco. What will that do to the Taco?
The pulse (signal) from the HEI may not be strong enough to drive the tacho is all. The tacho may probably work for quite some time then stop. Some people have been lucky and not had to do anything to their tach to get it to work but if you're planning on keeping it for a while it would be worthwhile to get the tach modded to suit the High Energy Ignition (HEI) output. Occasionally you'll get one with a weak module which wont run the engine without the tach wire disconnected (rare, but have seen it a couple of times over the years). Usually the engine only just runs in that case....
Nunc est bibendum...
