How dare you ruin a good hz front end with a hq couldnt think of any thing worse
Thats why it was the norm to rip off that ugly hq front back in the day and replace it with a hz one
    Waits for alien reply

    Fixed it for ya mate

The only thing wrong with a HQ commercial front was those bloody horrid indicators next to the headlights. Wow...could not have done a worse job

Truth be told, keeping the hq front on the Zed tonners gave them some curves back......im sure the GMH designers only used a ruler when designing the HJ/X/Z

Thats just sacrilege. Cant do that

Never understood people who get a HQ (sedan or whatever platform) and stick a later model front. If they want a HJ.X.Z, then get one of those.

As for GMH keeping the HQ front on the one tonners...its probably coz they realized they couldnt go backwards after releasing the 'brick front' of a HJ.X.Z ...they had to do something to keep the masses happy

And lets not forget GMHs biggest mistake....not keeping on with the HQ GTS/Sandman style dash. Best dash they ever released ....IMHO of course

Having had both in the past and currently having 2 HQs and 2 HXs one with the GTS/Sandman instrumentation and the HQ ute will have a GTS dash in it, I still don't like the way Holdens lit the HQs. Much prefer the backlit guages of the later models even though I prefer the layout of the HQ!

if someone likes the HJ-Z front probably the best reason for putting it on a HQ is that you can avoid all the antipollution requirements plus you can bolt in a 350 no questions asked.....

I had a HX monaro and a hq monaro..... The HX GTS dash never grew on me. The hq GTS dash is so unique. I liked the way it was lit....almost spooky in its own weird way.

I agree with both of you partially. HQ twin nose nose is far nicer than HJ-HZ in my eyes (GTS/Kingswood nose not Premier). But I do not like the HQ dash, seats, blinker mech, high beam switch and seatbelts. Plus HZ's drive and ride better, so a HZ tonner to me is the best of both. Just get rid of the blinkers and Bedford truck bar.
