I want to thank Byron for letting me know HZs are gay, I am so glad I dont own an HZ now, I'd hate anyone to think my car is a homosexual.

As you can see, I wan't telling the truth as I said HQ's are ugly as well! (to be honest I was doing my best to imitate Alien and Glacier!)

I wouldn't take much notice of what they are out of today, as when you rebuild them just do it as you want. Apart from the gearbox bolt pattern there is bugger all difference between 308/304 blocks from HT right through to the end of them in VSIII, nothing that matters too much for a rebuild to put one in a carbied HQ-HZ. Some of them even have proper date codes for most of Sandman timeframe (ie 1994-1998). The point was if you could pick an original spec engine the HJ one is the one you want.

One day i'll probably do that. Have to get serious work done on my yellow HK GTS327 first, and find someone to buy my red one to clear up shed space. What i'll have to do is keep an eye our for a blank (no chassis number) late HX or HZ ute or van replacement chassis so I can put it under a HJ ute body and then get a Police chassis number for it, so it can be regoed as a HJ rather than as a HX or HZ. Then put one of the Rare Spares HQ cowls on it, and build it as a stripeless HQ Sandman replica. I'd actually put the tailgate and pillar decals on, just not the side ones.

You had me until you got to the hq part it was all down hill from there

It is only HQ front panels and paint colour! Rest is pure HJ, HX and HZ. Even if I built up a HJ-HZ style replica it'd have a twin headlight HJ nose and guards (as per HJ Sandman) and HJ logos and tailgate stripe. It'd have srious HZ influence though with chassis, suspension, combination switch, instruments and the mirrors.
