Your wrong again hz have got there own manuals they are sort after unlike hq ones
and byron show me where hqs are getting more money what they ask for and what they sell for is two different things bud
I can get a Gregorys hz manual in the 2 dollar bin at Super Cheap!
Geez the only 2 doors the Zs got was the ute and pano...you guys didnt even have a 2 door monaro.......they didnt even call the 4 door GTS a Monaro.....you werent worthy
In all seriousness Gene, HQ Sandys are reaching higher dollars. Maybe because of their rarity or maybe just the fact they were HQs...and big blocks go in them rather well without pollution gear![]()
Hey Glacier, get stuck into team eyebrow about all the HQ utes with yellow needle GTS dashes running around.
"All correspondence must bear these numbers"
Or what about the number of HQs with Z fronts.....Z people want the pre pollution benefits...wanting something they cant have![]()
I can't even show you a complete survivor or a restored one that sold on the open market, most get sold privately as they are so sought after. I know of good restorable 308 HQ vans selling for $20k with non original engine. Same thing in any other series won't pull $10k. As Alien says it is a lot to do with their rarity, but it isn't just Sandmans. HQ GTS sedans were more common than HJ GTS sedans. HQ GTS coupes, LS coupes and Monaro coupes total 13872 made with HJ and HX coupes at 1523 total. HQ's sell for at least 50% more with the same driveline. In this case i'd prefer the HJ coupe and the HQ GTS sedan, HX LE with the quad nose is ugly.

Yep, the HQ's 2 x big Achille's heel items: the ugly is dash (not just the instruments but the whole thing), and the lack of retractable seat belts or at least the holes to put them in. The equivalent to me of the HZ is the much less attractive front styling (but at least they left the whole thing HQ from the doors backwards on vans, utes and coupes (the ones i'm interested in)), plus the dodgy ADR27A engines on HZ.
All this talk does make me want to build my own interpretation Sandman ute as i've stated before:
HJ body and tags, HZ chassis and suspension, HQ front panels, HZ instruments, HX trim combination and injected 304 with 4L60E transmission. All painted up looking exactly like a HQ Sandman, possibly with 15x7 rims and lower it an inch at the front.
