I rather liked the SL/E Statesman grill with the larger box look, although it would have been nicer with stainless surround.
Hated the alloy rims with a passion. Nothing uglier every made. More Gemini, UC Sunturd, Commodore influence. YUK!

I agree...those grilles look cool!!
I see this SL/E at a few car shows in Vic and the grille is what sets it apart and makes the whole package look great .... especially with the over riders on the front bar
And lets not discuss those alloys ever again....major fail GMH![]()

first thing i took off my van was those big ugly over riders...yuk! love the SLE grille too. did you just admit you like HZs Alien ?
I owned a sle statesman for two years then finished the Monaro and sold it off, half way through my resto on the Monaro I was in st Mary's at a wreckers opposite Peter Jackson rubbers (then), and I was about to go and their truck turned up , on top was a sle and the first thing in thought was get the dash, in the end I bought the woodgraining gts dash ,console, rear seat belts and the disc brake diff. They were a great car for the parts they had.i bought my sle in 1989 for $5500 and sold two years later for $7500, didn't touch it but reco engine $1500 was standard only for the 80s Chevy drop back pipes.
